Life can feel overwhelming or too heavy to carry alone. If you’re navigating trauma, burnout, grief, identity shifts, motherhood, or relationship stress, you don’t have to do this by yourself.
I’m Yvonne Dejean, founder of Mind Wellness Institute, a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW), Certified Brainspotting Practitioner, and Maternal Mental Health specialist. I help adults and couples find relief, gain clarity, and rebuild connection in a calm, supportive space, so healing and growth feel possible.

If you’re feeling overwhelmed, disconnected, or stuck, therapy offers a safe and compassionate space to explore what’s happening beneath the surface, understand what’s keeping you stuck, and create meaningful change.

Brainspotting is a focused, brain–body approach developed by Dr. David Grand (EMDR-trained). It was discovered when he noticed that a client’s eyes became unsteady in a specific area of her visual field—and that holding a gentle gaze there supported deep, meaningful processing.
Brainspotting works with the connection between eye position, the nervous system, and emotional experience. By locating a “brainspot” (a spot your eyes naturally orient toward when something activates), we can support your system in accessing what’s ready to be processed—at a pace that feels safe and grounded.
In therapy, Brainspotting may be used to support:
-
Processing trauma and adverse experiences
-
Reducing anxiety, stress responses, and emotional overwhelm
-
Easing physical tension and nervous system activation
-
Building emotional regulation, insight, and resilience
-
Integrating difficult memories and strengthening inner stability
Brainspotting can be integrated into ongoing counseling or used as a focused method within a broader treatment plan.
In coaching, Brainspotting may be used in a non-clinical way through Expansion Spots (present- and future-focused work). This approach supports:
-
Improving clarity, focus, and follow-through
-
Strengthening confidence and performance
-
Increasing emotional steadiness under pressure
-
Shifting patterns that block aligned action
-
Embodying goals and reinforcing values-based decisions
